Production of Cash Crops

Kurtarma Farms was born out of the desire to solve the problem of scarcity of raw materials in the production and processing of food items such as pasta, flour, noodles, tomato paste, oat, cassava, corn flakes, beer etc. in Nigeria. These food items are majorly the product of raw materials such as corn, wheat, tomato, millet, oat, barley, millet, sorghum, etc.

While some of these raw materials are being produced in Nigeria, their usage is mainly provided for by importation from Europe and North America. For instance, Nigeria’s consumption of wheat is about 4.2 – 4.7 million Metric Tonnes annually. However, Nigeria produces just 400,000 MT of wheat per annum, representing just 10% of its annual consumption. Kurtarma Farms is committed to filling such gaps between production and consumption through mechanised farming and improved seedling technology.

Our primary market is manufacturers of processed foods. We use our high yield improved seedlings to maintain the status of being the manufacturer’s preferred source of raw materials.

How We Create Value

  • We identify raw materials used by prospective customers
  • We analyse production vis-à-vis usage of the raw material in Nigeria
  • Where there is a significant gap, we meet manufacturer with our value proposition – assisting with reducing importation of such raw material by producing for them locally
  • Upon agreeing to our proposal, we get specific crop variety and chemical composition of raw material from manufacturer
  • We cultivate the desired crop for the manufacturer locally in marketable volumes with the use of sophisticated technological systems, thereby reducing importation cost
